Arthur Kirkland -- ENGLAND Anime1693

Name: Arthur Kirkland
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Quarter: The Citadel
Job: Arthur is the head Speaker of the Gods. He is in charge of the governing body of Pangaea.
God(s): Arthur worships all Gods as equally as he can, but he tends to favor Syku, the high god, and Yahnit, his female counterpart.
Gift: Sight. Arthur has the ability to always sees things as they truly are. Whether they are an enchanted human or a God hiding in some guise, he can see what they really look like.

Personality: Arthur is, first and foremost, a gentleman. Though he does have some very ungentlemanly tendencies, he tries his hardest to be courteous and kind to people. While he doesn't always succeed, you really can't say he didn't try. He prefers organization to just going with the flow and has a specified time for each event that he partakes in. Which is also how he tries to run the city of Pangaea.

Despite, and perhaps because of, his gentlemanly nature, Arthur can be described as a very fickle person. While he is okay with doing certain things himself, he deems it "wrong" for other people to do the same thing. Like binge drinking. Or swearing.

Arthur is very bad at lying. His face often reveals too much of what he's thinking, which makes it difficult for him to be tactful at times. However, if something embarrassing comes to light about him, he will try his hardest to deny ever doing what he's being accused of doing. Also, because of his gift, Arthur sees things as they truly are. Because of this, he has a tendency to talk to thin air - should a God be hiding there - or speak to people as who they are rather than what they appear to be, which makes him look rather insane.

Overall, Arthur is somebody who has a good heart, is awkward beyond all reason, and just wants what's best for the people who are under his care. And he will always try his hardest to do what's right in his eyes.
Appearance: Arthur dresses in fine clothes, and often wears suits, cloaks, and robes, depending on his mood. He grooms himself as close to perfection as he can every morning, though as the day progresses, it's easy to see how easily-frazzled he is, because his appearance loses a lot of its spiffiness. Also, he has tried frequently (and still does sometimes) to hide his massive eyebrows but always fails on a major level. Somehow, they stand out so much more every time he tries to hide them. Sometimes, Arthur can be spotted wearing a monocle when he is doing close reading. It's less because of need and more because he really likes his monocle.

Strengths:
Stamina -- Arthur has an amazing stamina - when it comes to alcohol especially. He can go for days on end without more than a few hours of sleep if something seriously needs to be done.
Gentlemanly -- Always the gentleman, Arthur tries his best not to take sides and treat everyone courteously.
Power -- Because of his connections to both the Gods and the Citadel, Arthur is a very politically powerful man. If something needs to happen, he can make it happen.
Crafting -- Arthur is good with his hands. He can embroider, sew, knit, and even crochet with ease.
Storytelling -- Arthur is also a master of words - when he's telling a story that has nothing to do with him. His imagination is also immense, which means that the stories he tells are captivating and meaningful.
Weaknesses:
Cooking -- Arthur has a very hard time cooking anything that would even be considered actually edible by most people.
Expressing himself -- While he is good with words, Arthur is not good at using them to express himself. He gets easily flustered when it comes to his own emotions and often just falls back on cursing instead.
Foul language -- Speaking of cursing! Arthur does a lot of it, especially when he's even mildly uncertain about something.
Cynic -- Arthur is quick to believe the worst of people, probably because they seem so vile compared to some of the higher powers he speaks with on a regular basis.
Easily offended -- Because of the insecurities Arthur has, he is easily offended. Especially if someone mentions his cooking or his eyebrows.

Likes:
--Fantastical things
--Thoughts of sailing the ocean (despite it being forbidden)
--Cooking
--Sewing, knitting, embroidering, various crafty things
--Music - especially if it's loud
--Dealing with the Gods
--Helping people to thrive
--Tea
--Alcohol
Dislikes:
--One Francis Bonnefoy
--People insulting his cooking
--Those who aren't loyal to the Gods
--Lying (...just when other people do it)
--Being made fun of at all
--Trying so hard at something and always failing...
Quirks:
--When drunk, Arthur has a tendency to stop being so gentlemanly and just become a huge idiot. He also likes to strip at these points, for some reason...
--Arthur is mildly OCD in the fact that he always has to make sure he looks just right. He will spend at least an hour every morning making himself look good.
--In order to leave the Citadel and actually have some fun, Arthur likes to disguise himself and sneak out.
Phobias:
--Being abandoned/alone (Either by humans or the Gods themselves)
--People he cares about lying to him
--Divine Retribution (He knows the Gods better than anyone, and knows how very angry they can get...)

History: Arthur's first memory is of being forcefully taken away from his parents. They were lower-class civilians in the Southwestern Quarter of Pangaea, but they loved their only son very much. However, it was discovered very early on that he could actually see and converse normally with the Gods, and so the Citadel summoned him. Of course, a summon from the Citadel meant that he could no longer be associated with the Southwestern Quarter, and so he was made to forget his parents. Now the only memories he has of them are very vague and incomplete.

That being said, Arthur was raised very well by the priests at the Citadel. They treated him well and taught him everything he could ever want to know. Because of this, Arthur is more educated than most people in Pangaea, especially in the ways of the Gods. He was specifically raised as a prospective candidate to one day take over at the Citadel and thus oversee all of Pangaea.

This plan came to pass when Arthur was twenty-two, so he has currently only been in charge of Pangaea for about two years. Many said he was too young, but most of the lords and ladies saw that as an asset. With a young, impressionable person in charge, they stood more of a chance of getting what they wanted from the Citadel and the Gods. They failed to factor in Arthur's loyalty to both of those things and have since tried to have him removed from the position. However, the other people of Pangaea see Arthur as someone who is fighting for them, especially since he will sometimes go out into the Southwestern Quarter with food to help as much as he can.

Of course, his excursions into the Southwestern Quarter have a secondary meaning - Arthur is hoping to find his parents, if they're still alive, and this is the only way he knows how to do so.

RP Sample:
It was raining.

Arthur sighed as he quietly removed the screaming kettle from its place atop the stove. It was always raining, he shouldn't be surprised by the gathering clouds. But it still put a damper on his mood, like it always did. Whenever it rained, it meant that he couldn't have his tea out in the garden, which was something that he had always greatly enjoyed. Instead he had to sit in the dining room and sip it in utter silence.

Not that Arthur minded silence. It was just so, well, silent. And lonely after a while. That's why he liked being outside. At least outside there were birds and the wind and little furry animals running around to keep his mind occupied as he drank his tea.

But honestly, he thought as he sat down with one of his favorite teacups in hand, silence was better than being pestered by one of those annoying--

As if on cue, the doorbell rang, jarring through the silence and Arthur flinched. It would be just like Alfred or Francis to show up right in the middle of tea-time, wouldn't it? 'Calm down, Arthur,' he thought to himself as he set his cup down gently and stood, a bit hesitantly. 'It could just be a neighbor, after all.'

Ah, if only he were that lucky...
